Emer O'Flaherty

Emer O’Flaherty is a bilingual (Gaeilge/English) singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist from Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland. Her music is a fusion of folk and traditional Irish music with elements of jazz and contemporary lounge. Known for writing original songs almost exclusively as Gaeilge she is classically trained soprano and plays piano, organ, flute, whistles and concertina.

Her début solo album, ‘Go dtí seo’ (Up to now) released in April 2025, features original songs as Gaeilge, sean-nós arrangements and instrumental works. As well as performing solo shows internationally at Edinburgh and Prague Fringe Festivals, between 2023 and 2025 she was a member of the Dúchas agus Dóchas collective which toured Ireland to celebrate the old Gaeilge songs of County Clare.

Major projects include ‘Teach-House’ (2022-2023), a bilingual poetry and piano score collection, and ‘Réaltbhuíonta – Constellations’ a musical study for chamber quartet to celebrate the 8pm solstice sky and which premiered on December 21st 2024. She has composed over sixty pieces for piano, and her music has been featured in theatre productions and radio documentary.

Emer is an award-winning singer/songwriter, including the National and International Pan Celtic International Song Contests and is twice winner of Corn Chonall Uí Fhearraigh which celebrates non-traditional singing at Oireachtas na Gaeilge.
